This is the single most common replacement charger for 48V e-bikes: 54.6V output, 2 amps, a 5.5 mm x 2.1 mm DC barrel plug, and a fan-cooled brick that takes most of a night to fill a mid-size pack. Because the listings are generic, the product you are really buying is a spec sheet: 54.6V DC output (for 13-series lithium-ion packs), 2A, correct plug, and a red/green status light. Bring your old charger's label to the listing and match the output voltage and plug exactly; a 48V label on the box is not enough.

Bafang BBS02B 48V 750W Mid-Drive Conversion Kit

The BBS02B is the mid-drive kit that turned thousands of ordinary bikes into e-bikes. It replaces the bottom bracket with a motor unit that drives the chainring, so it uses your gears and climbs far better than a hub motor of the same wattage. Kits bundle the motor, a chainring, cranks, display, throttle, brake sensors or cutoff levers, and a speed sensor; the battery is sold separately. Installation is a weekend job with a few special tools. It is not quiet under hard load and it is hard on chains, but it is the most proven budget mid-drive there is.

KT 36V/48V 22A Sine Wave Controller

KT (Kunteng) controllers are the de facto standard in the conversion-kit world, and the 22A sine wave unit is the one most people end up with for a 500W–750W hub motor. Sine wave drive is quieter than square wave and smoother off the line. KT controllers talk a specific serial protocol to KT displays (LCD3, LCD8H and friends), so if you already have a KT display this is the natural match; if you have a different display, plan to replace both. Connectors are typically the Julet/Higo waterproof style, which makes wiring tidy but ties you to matching plugs.

KT-LCD3 E-Bike Display

The KT-LCD3 is the display most conversion-kit riders learn on. It is a monochrome LCD with a separate three-button pad, a deep settings menu (P and C parameters) and the ability to set wheel size, speed limit, assist levels and current limits on KT controllers. It is not pretty, but it is legible in sun and the parameter menu is documented all over the internet. If your bike has a KT controller and a dead or cracked display, an LCD3 is the cheapest functional replacement; the LCD8H is the same protocol in a more modern package.

Unit Pack Power 48V 13Ah Hailong Downtube Battery

Unit Pack Power (UPP) is one of the longest-running aftermarket battery sellers on Amazon, and this 48V 13Ah pack in the familiar Hailong bottle-style case is their bread-and-butter product. It is the pack people reach for when a Hailong-mount bike from a lesser-known brand has a dead battery and the manufacturer is no longer answering email. The case has a built-in key lock, a USB port on most versions, and a standard Hailong slide rail. The 13Ah capacity puts it in the middle of the range: enough for most commutes, not a long-range upgrade.

48V 1000W 35A Brushless Controller (generic)

The bare-bones 48V 1000W controller with a bundle of labeled leads is the universal patient in the generic direct-drive conversion world. It is a square wave controller, so it hums a little under load, but it is cheap, tolerant, and its wiring is well documented on forums. Most include throttle, brake, PAS, hall and phase leads plus a three-speed or cruise lead. It is the right purchase when the original controller on a generic kit fails and you just need the bike moving again. It is the wrong purchase if you expect it to drive a branded display.

Best for: Generic 48V 1000W direct-drive conversion kits · Riders who want a cheap, available fix for a dead controller · Builders comfortable matching wire colors and connectors

48V 3A Faster E-Bike Charger, 3-Pin XLR Plug (generic)

If your 48V pack has a 3-pin XLR charge port and you want to cut charging time, a 3A unit is the sensible upgrade over the stock 2A brick. It is still a slow rate in absolute terms, so it is easy on the cells, but it trims a couple of hours off a 15–20Ah pack. As with any generic charger, buy by the spec sheet: 54.6V output, 3A, XLR plug, correct pin-out. Make sure your battery's BMS is rated for at least 3A charge current (nearly all are) and that the original charger was also XLR, not a barrel.

Best for: 48V packs with an XLR port and 15Ah or more capacity · Commuters who charge twice a day · A faster spare when the stock 2A brick is too slow

52V 20Ah Hailong Downtube Battery (generic)

A 52V 20Ah pack is what people buy when they want more range and a little more punch from a bike or conversion kit that can tolerate it. The 52V nominal (58.8V full) is a drop-in for many 48V controllers whose capacitors are rated for it, but not all, so this is an upgrade that requires confirmation. At 20Ah the pack is long and heavy, usually in the taller Hailong-3, DK or Jumbo Shark style case, which will not fit every frame triangle. Measure your downtube clearance before you order and expect to also buy a 52V charger.

Best for: Riders who want a long-range upgrade on a compatible 48V/52V system · Mid-drive kits (BBS02/BBSHD) that accept 52V · Larger frames with room for a long downtube case

52V 2A E-Bike Charger, 3-Pin XLR Plug (generic)

A 52V pack needs a 58.8V charger, and the 3-pin XLR plug is the most common fitting on the 52V Hailong and rack packs sold to kit builders. Mixing this up with a 48V charger is a classic mistake: a 54.6V charger will leave a 52V pack permanently under-charged, while a 58.8V charger on a 48V pack is dangerous. This generic 2A unit is the slow-and-steady option; heavier packs may benefit from a 3A or 5A unit if the BMS allows it. Confirm the XLR pin assignment matches your battery before the first plug-in.

Bafang BBSHD 48V/52V 1000W Mid-Drive Conversion Kit

The BBSHD is the BBS02's bigger sibling: a 1000W nominal mid-drive with a beefier case, a 30A controller, and a reputation for taking abuse that the BBS02 would not survive. It is the pick for heavy riders, cargo hauls, steep terrain, and fat-bike conversions, and it is happy on 52V packs. The trade-offs are weight, a wider Q-factor at the pedals, and more chain wear than any hub motor. Like the BBS02, it ships as a kit without a battery and needs a threaded bottom bracket shell in the matching width.

Best for: Heavy riders and cargo conversions · Fat bikes (100/120 mm shell versions) and steep hills · Riders who want more headroom than a BBS02B

Ebikeling 48V 1200W Direct-Drive Rear Wheel Conversion Kit

Ebikeling is one of the few hub-kit brands with a US base and actual customer support, which is why its 48V 1200W direct-drive rear kit shows up so often in forum recommendations. The wheel comes pre-laced in 26, 27.5, 28/700c or 29-inch sizes with the controller, LCD, throttle, PAS sensor and cut-off levers. Direct-drive motors are quiet and durable but heavy, and they have a little magnetic drag when pedaling unpowered. This is a good flat-land commuter kit; for steep climbs a geared hub or mid-drive is smarter.

KT-LCD8H Color E-Bike Display

The KT-LCD8H is KT's color display for the same controllers that run the LCD3. It has a brighter, higher-contrast screen, a built-in button pad, a USB charging port on most versions, and the same parameter menus under the hood. For a KT kit it is the nicer upgrade, and it is the one to buy if you are replacing a broken display anyway. The screen is more prone to glare than the LCD3 in direct sun, and the integrated buttons mean the whole unit mounts near the stem rather than splitting display and pad.

Wired E-Bike LED Headlight, 12–80V Input (generic)

A headlight wired to the main battery never needs charging, and the wide-input versions (commonly rated 12–80V DC) work on 36V, 48V and 52V systems without a converter. Most come with a 2-pin lead for the controller's light output or a direct battery connection, a fork-crown or handlebar bracket, and some include a horn button. The good ones have a proper cutoff beam so you do not blind oncoming traffic; the cheap ones are floodlights. Check the connector on your bike's light lead (often a 2-pin Julet) and whether your display can switch the light.

Wired E-Bike Tail Light with Brake Signal, 36V/48V (generic)

Wired tail lights are common original equipment on rack-equipped e-bikes and simple to replace. They mount to the rear rack's standard light tab (or a seat stay bracket), run on the main pack via a 2-pin lead, and the better ones flash brighter when you brake using the brake-sensor signal. Generic units are sold rated for 36V/48V or a wide 12–80V range; check which your bike needs and how many wires the original used (2-wire power only vs 3-wire with brake input). A rack-mount light sits low and is easily blocked by panniers, so keep it visible.
