Tubeless tires seal small punctures on the fly and run lower pressures without pinch flats, which is attractive on an e-bike where fixing a rear flat means wrestling a motor wheel. The trade-off is setup and upkeep: a tubeless-compatible rim, airtight tape, a good valve, sealant that has not dried out, and a plug kit for holes the sealant cannot close. Done right it is lower-maintenance day to day; done wrong it is messy. For most casual e-bike riders on pavement, a thick tube is simpler; tubeless pays off most for riders who cover real miles or ride gravel and trails.
Whether your wheels can go tubeless is the first question. The rim needs a bead shelf that holds the tire and either a solid rim bed or tape rated for tubeless, and the tire should be tubeless-ready. Many budget e-bike wheels are not designed for it, and very wide fat-bike rims can be hard to seal. If the wheel maker does not say tubeless-ready, assume it is not without further checking.
The consumables are simple: latex-based sealant sized to your tire volume (fat tires need a lot), tubeless valves long enough for the rim depth, tape matched to the rim's internal width, and a plug kit for the road. In North Texas heat, sealant dries faster than the bottle suggests, so plan to check and top it up every few months. Confirm rim and tire compatibility on your bike before buying a conversion kit. A bottle of sealant and a plug kit are cheap; a leaky conversion on the wrong rim is not.
