Key considerations
- Requires a standard BSA threaded bottom bracket shell (68–73 mm versions are common; 100 mm fat-bike versions exist)
- You still need a 48V (or 52V) battery with a BMS rated for the controller's 25A
- Chain and cassette wear faster — shift gently and avoid shifting under full power
- Bottom-bracket tool and a lockring spanner are needed for installation
Pros
- Excellent climbing
- Uses the bike's existing gears
- Massive community and spare-parts support
Considerations
- Drivetrain wear
- Motor noise under load
- Installation needs tools and patience
