The bare-bones 48V 1000W controller with a bundle of labeled leads is the universal patient in the generic direct-drive conversion world. It is a square wave controller, so it hums a little under load, but it is cheap, tolerant, and its wiring is well documented on forums. Many budget 36V e-bikes and conversion kits use an unbranded Hailong-case battery, and when one dies the replacement is usually another unbranded Hailong-case battery.
