E-Bike Parts: chargers, batteries, controllers, brakes, tires and more

Replacement parts are where mistakes get expensive. Each category explains how to identify what you have (voltage, connector, size, mount) before you buy. If your bike is misbehaving and you are not sure which part is at fault, start with an E-Bike Assessment instead of guessing.

20x4.0 Fat Tire Inner Tube, Schrader Valve (generic)

A 20x4 tube is the single most common flat-repair purchase for folding fat e-bikes, and generic listings from brands like Kenda, CST, Sunlite and a dozen house brands are all essentially the same butyl tube. Buy by size and valve: 20 x 4.0 (often printed as 20x3.5-4.0 or 20x4.0-4.5), Schrader valve unless your rim is drilled for Presta, and a valve length that clears your rim. Keep two spares; on these bikes the rear wheel is a chore to remove and you do not want to do it twice for a patch that does not hold.

Best for: Folding fat e-bikes on 20x4 tires · Anyone who wants a couple of spares in the garage · Replacing a tube damaged by a pinch flat

Kenda Krusade Sport 20x4.0 Fat Tire

The Kenda Krusade is one of the most common 20x4 tires on folding fat e-bikes, which makes it both a like-for-like replacement and an easy place to start when the stock tire wears out. It is a street-leaning tread with a shallow center and small side knobs, so it rolls quietly on pavement and still grips on packed gravel. Kenda sells versions with a puncture-resistant layer; look for that on the listing if flats are your problem. It is a wire-bead tire, so it will not fold for storage, and it is heavy like every 4-inch tire.

Best for: Folding fat e-bikes (Lectric XP, Heybike, Engwe and similar 20x4 bikes) · Mostly paved riding with some trail · Riders replacing a worn stock 20x4 tire

Wheels & Rims

20-Inch Fat Bike Front Wheel, 80 mm Rim, Disc (generic)

The front wheel on a fat folding e-bike is a plain bicycle wheel: no motor, a 6-bolt disc hub, and an 80 mm wide rim for a 4-inch tire. When one gets tacoed by a pothole, a generic replacement is the cheapest fix, and several sellers list 20-inch fat front wheels with an alloy double-wall rim and a quick-release or bolt-on hub. Check your fork's dropout spacing (100 mm and 135 mm both exist on these bikes) and hub type before ordering. Tire, tube and rotor are usually not included.

Best for: Replacing a bent front wheel on a 20x4 fat folder · Riders who want a spare front wheel for a second tire setup · Budget repairs

Fenders

20x4 Fat Tire Fender Set, Front and Rear (generic)

Fat folding e-bikes throw an impressive rooster tail, and many ship without fenders or with flimsy ones that crack. Generic 20x4 fender sets are wide plastic or alloy mudguards with stays sized for 20-inch wheels and roughly 4-inch tires, sold as a front and rear pair. Fit varies because fork crown and frame bridge designs differ between brands; sets made for a specific model (Lectric, Heybike, etc.) fit better than universal ones. Expect to bend stays and drill a hole or two. Measure your tire width and check the fender is at least 4.5 inches wide.

Best for: 20x4 fat folders that came without fenders · Replacing cracked stock fenders · Rainy-season commuters

Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x38C

The Marathon Plus is the tire people buy when they are done fixing flats. Its thick SmartGuard belt is the reference for puncture resistance, and the 700x38C size fits most 700c commuter and hybrid e-bikes with room to spare. It is an e-bike-rated tire, heavy, stiff to mount, and not especially fast, but it shrugs off glass, wire and goathead thorns that would flatten a lighter tire. For a commuter who rides every day on city streets and does not want to think about tires, it is hard to argue with.

Best for: 700c commuter and hybrid e-bikes · Riders who get frequent flats from glass and thorns · Daily commuters who value reliability over speed

Schwalbe Super Moto-X 27.5x2.40 E-Bike Tire

The Super Moto-X is Schwalbe's heavy-duty balloon tire for fast, heavy e-bikes, and it is one of the few 27.5-inch tires that combines a smooth, quick-rolling tread with a serious puncture belt and an e-bike speed rating. It is a common original-equipment tire on premium commuters and a popular upgrade on mid-range 27.5 hardtail-style e-bikes that came with knobbies. The wide 2.40 casing soaks up rough pavement. It is heavier and pricier than a basic tire, but owners tend to replace it with another one, which says a lot.

Best for: 27.5-inch commuter and hybrid e-bikes · Riders who want comfort and puncture protection on pavement · Replacing knobby tires on a street-ridden hardtail e-bike

SKS Bluemels 65 U Full Fender Set (26/27.5/29-inch)

SKS Bluemels are the classic full-coverage commuter fender, and the wide 65 mm U version is the one sized for modern hybrid and e-bike tires on 26, 27.5 and 29-inch wheels. They use SKS's secure stay clips that release in a jam, the plastic is durable and quiet, and the coverage is long enough to keep the spray off your feet and the back of your jacket. They need eyelets at the dropouts and a crown mount; bikes without them need the clip-on version. Fit is straightforward on a rigid frame and more involved with suspension.

Best for: 27.5 and 29-inch commuter e-bikes with eyelets · Riders who want proper full coverage · Replacing rattly generic fenders

Inner Tubes

Slime Smart Tube 26x1.75-2.125 Schrader (Self-Sealing)

Slime's pre-filled Smart Tube is the lazy rider's best friend: a standard butyl tube with sealant already inside, so small punctures from thorns and wire seal themselves as you ride. The 26x1.75-2.125 Schrader version fits the typical 26-inch tire on many older-style and budget e-bikes, and Slime sells the same thing in 20, 24, 27.5 and 700c sizes. It will not stop a pinch flat or a large cut, and the added weight is noticeable, but for a commuter who rides through debris it can mean months without a flat.

Best for: 26-inch e-bikes with 1.75–2.125 tires · Commuters plagued by small punctures · Riders who do not want to carry a patch kit

Sunlite Thorn Resistant Tube 700x35-43 Schrader

Thorn-resistant tubes are ordinary butyl tubes made with a much thicker casing, and Sunlite's are the ones bike shops have stocked for decades. The 700x35-43 Schrader size fits most 700c commuter and hybrid e-bikes. The thick wall stops the short thorns and wire that cause most commuter flats, at the cost of weight and a slightly dead ride feel. They pair well with a puncture-resistant tire for riders who refuse to fix flats on the roadside. If your rim is drilled for Presta, Sunlite sells the same tube with a Presta valve.

Best for: 700c commuter e-bikes in thorn and glass country · Riders who want belt-and-suspenders flat protection · Heavier riders who pinch-flat thin tubes
