Jackets, rain gear and pads suited to faster e-bike riding.
You do not need a cycling wardrobe to ride an e-bike; most people ride in regular clothes, which is part of the appeal. But a few pieces of gear make faster riding safer and more comfortable, and the choices differ from pedal-bike apparel because you are moving quicker with less effort. At 25 mph, wind chill is real even on a mild day, rain hits like it does on a scooter, and a fall happens at speeds where a bit of protection matters.
A packable wind and rain shell is the most useful item. Look for one that breathes, has a long tail to cover the gap an upright posture opens at the back, and fits over a helmet hood or has a high collar. Bright color and reflective details do double duty. In summer, a light, loose, sun-protective long sleeve is cooler than bare arms at speed and keeps sun off. For anyone riding trails, a throttle bike at Class 3 speeds, or a scooter-style bike, lightweight knee and elbow pads or a jacket with armor are worth considering; the faster and heavier the bike, the more sense they make.
Avoid anything loose enough to catch in a wheel, chain or pedal, and check that jacket hems and straps clear the saddle and rack. Pockets that zip keep keys and phones from bouncing out. Most of all, pick things you will wear in August and pull on for a quick errand; gear that lives in the closet does nothing on the road.
