Finish Line Dry is the default chain lube on the shelf at most shops, and for North Texas it is a sensible default: it goes on wet, sets up to a dry film that does not grab the grit blown around on our trails and roads, and it is cheap. E-bike drivetrains see more torque than regular bikes, especially with mid-drive motors, so they chew through lube faster. Expect to reapply every 100 miles or so, more in rain. Wipe the chain before and after applying; the extra lube on the outside only attracts dirt. It is not the longest-lasting lube, but it is forgiving and easy.

Squirt is a wax emulsion that drips on like a liquid and dries to a wax coating. The big win for e-bike owners is cleanliness: a waxed chain does not build up the black paste that grinds down cassettes and chainrings, which matters when motor torque is already shortening drivetrain life. It performs best on a chain that has been fully degreased first, and it needs a couple of applications to build up. In rain it holds up better than you would expect from a dry lube. The downside is that it can flake and squeak if you let it run too long between applications.
