Aventon Sinch.2 Folding Fat Tire E-Bike

The Sinch.2 is a folding bike with 20x4 fat tires, a 500W motor and, unusually for a folder, a torque sensor. The frame is a step-through design that is easier to swing a leg over than most folders, and the 672Wh battery sits inside the main tube. It folds, but it is heavy, so think of it as a bike that fits in an SUV or RV bay rather than one you will carry onto a train. Fenders and a rear rack are included. It costs more than the Lectric and Heybike folders it competes with; the torque sensor and Aventon's dealer network are what you are paying for.

About Aventon

Aventon is a California-based e-bike brand that sells through its own site, Amazon and a large network of independent bike shops, which is unusual for a brand at its price point. That dealer presence is its biggest practical advantage: if something goes wrong with a Level or an Aventure, there is a decent chance a shop near you can look at it under warranty. Its current lineup covers commuters (Level, Pace, Soltera), a fat-tire all-rounder (Aventure), a folder (Sinch), a compact longtail (Abound) and a mid-drive trail bike (Ramblas).

Lectric XP 3.0 Folding E-Bike

The XP 3.0 is the bike that made Lectric the best-selling e-bike brand in the US. It is a 20x3 folding bike with a 500W motor (higher peak), a 48V battery, hydraulic brakes, a suspension fork, fenders, a rack and lights, shipped fully assembled in a box. It is heavy for a folder, the cadence sensor makes assist a little abrupt, and the stock battery is on the small side (a long-range pack is offered). What it does better than anything at the price is arrive ready to ride, hold up, and have a huge owner community for parts and advice. Lectric has since released newer XP generations, but the 3.0 remains widely available.

Best for: First e-bike · RV, boat and apartment storage · Short to medium commutes

Heybike Mars 2.0 Folding Fat Tire E-Bike

The Mars 2.0 is one of the most popular folding fat-tire bikes on Amazon, and the second generation fixed most of what was wrong with the first: it gained a torque sensor, hydraulic brakes and a cleaner frame. The 750W motor and 600Wh battery give it real punch for a bike in this price band. Like every 20x4 folder it is heavy and the fold is more about fitting in a trunk than carrying. Build quality is good for the money; long-term support depends on Heybike's customer service rather than a local shop, so be ready to do small fixes yourself.

Best for: Trunk and RV storage · Riders who want power on a budget · Mixed gravel and neighborhood riding

Rad Power Bikes RadExpand 5 Folding E-Bike

The RadExpand 5 is Rad's folding bike: 20x4 fat tires, a 750W motor, a 48V 14Ah battery, a low step-through folding frame and a rear rack. It is a little lighter than the old RadMini it replaced and much easier to mount. It folds for RV bays and trunks rather than for carrying. Compared with a Lectric XP it costs more and has a rigid fork, but it gets Rad's accessory catalog and the same 48V platform as the rest of the lineup, which matters if you already own a Rad. Mechanical disc brakes are the main spec shortfall at this price.

Best for: RV and boat owners · Riders who already own Rad accessories · Step-through folder shoppers
