Panniers

Thule Shield Pannier (pair)

Thule's Shield panniers are the sensible alternative to Ortlieb: welded waterproof construction, roll-top, a magnetic hook system that swings the lower hook away from your heel while riding, and an attachment that drops onto racks without tools. They come in a couple of sizes, so smaller e-bikes and 20-inch folders can pick the compact version. The hook system is easy to use, though some riders find it slightly less bombproof than Ortlieb's clamps on very rough roads. Price is typically lower than the Ortlieb equivalent and the bags look a little more technical.

Best for: Commuters who want waterproof bags for less · Small-wheel e-bikes that need a shorter bag · Riders who dislike fiddly hooks

Rear Racks

Thule Tour Rack (Pack 'n Pedal)

The Thule Tour Rack is for bikes with nowhere to bolt a normal rack: full-suspension eMTBs, carbon frames, and folding or fat bikes without eyelets. It clamps to the seat stays or fork legs with ratcheting straps and rubber pads, and it can be mounted front or rear. Load rating is lower than a bolt-on rack, and the straps need checking, but it makes pannier carry possible where it otherwise would not be. Thule's own side frames let panniers hang without hitting spokes. It costs more than a basic rack because it solves a harder problem.

Best for: Full-suspension and eMTB riders · Frames without eyelets · Front or rear mounting

Child Seats

Thule Yepp Nexxt 2 Maxi Child Bike Seat

The Yepp Nexxt 2 Maxi is the rear child seat most often seen on cargo and commuter e-bikes. It comes in a rack-mount version that clicks onto a compatible rear rack and a frame-mount version for bikes with a standard seat tube. It is lightweight, has a magnetic buckle and adjustable footrests, and is rated for children roughly 9 months to 6 years. On an e-bike, the rack-mount version is usually the way to go because e-bike racks are often integrated and stout; confirm the rack's child-seat rating and width before buying. Always check your e-bike's maximum total load, which the seat, child and rider must fit within.

Best for: Parents on cargo and long-tail e-bikes · Commuters doing daycare drop-off · Rack-equipped e-bikes rated for child seats
